Program Costs

The type of program that you select can have a big effect on how the costs are set up, how payments are made, and what extra costs you should expect. Below is a chart that outlines costs and payments for different program types. Click the name of the program type to learn more about what the program type label means and the experience you would have taking part. For help in comparing different programs, consider using the Cost Comparison Tool (PDF) and Feature Comparison Tool (PDF). Both are available in multiple formats on the Choosing a Program page.

*When studying abroad, two fees are paid to NDSU Study Abroad Services to cover services and staffing. The amount is determined by the length of the program abroad:
  • For programs up to 90 days abroad: A total of $450 ($150 Administration Fee during the application process and $300 User Fee billed during term abroad).
  • For programs more than 90 days abroad: A total of $650 ($150 Administration Fee during the application process and $500 User Fee billed during term abroad).
**Full health and emergency evacuation insurance is required for all NDSU students. For some programs, this cost might be included in the program fees. If not, you are required to purchase coverage through NDSU.
***Board costs are not always included as a meal plan; in some cases students purchase food as needed. Financial aid can be applied to cover the cost of food for the term.
